PDC – Fiber Optic Backbone & Telecommunications Rooms Standardization

San Juan, Puerto Rico

A fully certified fiber backbone designed for long-term growth and operational reliability.

Project Overview

PDC required a complete modernization of its telecommunications infrastructure, one capable of supporting increasing bandwidth demands, multi-floor connectivity, and future security and expansion projects. Their existing backbone lacked organized routing, standardized rack layouts, and certified documentation, making maintenance and troubleshooting difficult.

Caribbean Computer & Cables was selected to design, install, certify, and document a new single-mode fiber optic backbone connecting all TRs (Telecommunications Rooms) across multiple floors. The project also included telecom room organization, rack implementation, copper backbone integration, power distribution alignment, and 100% certification of all fiber strands.

Challenges

  • Multi-floor facility requiring precise routing and tray optimization

  • Limited space in existing cable trays and ladder racks

  • Need for organized, symmetrical fiber pathways per TR

  • Requirement for certified single-mode links with low loss margin

  • Coordination with operations while maintaining uptime

  • Documentation of over 1,300+ splices and 686 certification tests

Our Solution

We deployed a complete fiber backbone system designed for performance, aesthetics, and future growth.

Services Provided

  • Design of fiber routes for all Telecommunications Rooms (TR-102, TR-110, TR-115, TR-157, TR-165, TR-184, TR-201, TR-228, TR-260, TR-270, TR-295, TR-Sec, TR-481)

  • Installation of Panduit Single-Mode 48-strand Armored Fiber (FSPP948Y)

  • Termination, splicing, and service loop management

  • FDU & FAP installation per rack configuration
